2013 || A Look Back

It’s never an easy task choosing your favourite captures from a year of photography. At least it never is for me. Of course I don’t help my own cause by travelling so much. I was on the road, camera in hand, for 6 of the 12 months of 2013, less time than I had intended at the turn of the year. The majority of my time on the road this year was spent in North America (Hawaii, Alaska, the US West Coast & Mexico) & Central America, with time also spent on the US East Coast & in Portugal. Six hundred and four images I used this year to populate my travel blog entries for 2013, the same number of images I started with as I attempted to select my 10 favourites for this ‘A Look Back’ posting. I managed easily enough to whittle that number down to 33, but that’s where the problems began. Getting from there to 12 took what felt like forever, questioning or second-guessing every selection or omission as I went. But I eventually made it. I then attempted to get from 12 to 10, a task that proved beyond me. So while I initially envisioned this A Look Back entry highlighting my favourite 10 pictures from a year of travel & photography | photography & travel that was 2013, here instead I present 12, displayed in chronological order. Sorry. I’ll try harder next year.
