Before I start to bore you all, I’ll allow Lonely Planet to best describe what it’s like to walk the streets of Kathmandu, Nepal’s capital city:

In the winding alleyways and hidden courtyards scattered with temples and shrines, traders and holy men conduct their business among ancient beauty and modern-day squalor. The evocative power of these surroundings enables one to mentally turn back the clock to the medieval era.

We got here to Kathmandu on Monday evening. It’s now 8:30 a.m. on Friday morning. In the intervening days we haven’t done much. But that’s okay as we never planned on doing much once we got here. Well before our arrival here last Monday evening we had earmarked Kathmandu as the ideal place to simply wile away some days ‘recovering’ from the ‘trauma’ of the Friendship Highway trip (we’re not getting any younger). So that’s what we’ve done – we’ve whiled away days. More to come.
