Where Polynesia Meets The USA. A Photographic Exploration of A Selection Of The Hawaiian Islands

The 50th state located in the geographical centre of the Pacific Ocean, Hawaii is an archipelago of volcanic islands that is renowned worldwide as something of a tropical paradise. Part of the U.S. it may be but a unique blend of Polynesian & native Hawaiian mixed with big, bold & brash America make for an intoxicating mix that keeps tourists coming back year after year – while once reliant on the whaling & pineapple industries, today Hawaii’s economy is based almost entirely on a mixture of the U.S. military & tourism. Attracting some 7 million visitors a year, the Hawaii is known for its water sports, especially surfing, its food, its lush tropical landscape, its volcanic wonders, its palm-fringed beaches, & its resorts. Just being in Hawaii promotes a life-is-good vibe. Twice I’ve been fortunate enough to visit, sampling 3 of the islands in the process – Oahu, the Big Island & Maui. Here’s the pick of the pictures I captured on my second visit in February & March 2012 (I have very few images from my first visit back in 2003).
