Portland, a.k.a. The City of Roses, is the largest city in the US state of Oregon and the third largest city in the Pacific Northwest after Seattle and Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Some 125 kilometres inland from the Pacific Ocean, the city is noted for its scenic beauty, great outdoors environment, a large number of microbreweries, and its eco-friendly urban planning policies. With a population of over 600,000, Portland is the largest city for miles and the largest US city lying between Seattle, my previous stop, & San Francisco, my next stop on this my first visit to the Pacific Northwest region.
